Memory

If you have a poor memory that regularly causes problems with every-day living, this may affect which products are suitable for you when managing bladder or bowel problems. Memory problems can make it difficult to use some continence products correctly or effectively and can even lead to complications.

Most continence products are not risky to use, but some can have adverse effects on your health if they are not used correctly. Some of these risks are more important than others. For example, if you wear a wet or soiled pad for too long without changing, your skin could become sore. However, forgetting to release a penile compression device regularly or to perform intermittent catheterisation can have more serious consequences. You may find it helpful to use an alarm clock to remind you.
