More about pads for women with light bladder leakage
Pads for light bladder leakage in women come in five main designs:
small disposable insert pads
washable pants
small washable insert pads
sanitary towels
disposable pull-ups
•Small disposable insert pads are preferred by most women (ref 54 Fader 2008). In trials, women found they performed better than washable products and sanitary towels for containing leakage and most other important criteria (ref 54 Fader 2008)
•However, some women do find sanitary towels or washable pants are sufficient for containing their light leakage. Although neither design is as absorbent as a small disposable insert pad, they are significantly cheaper (ref 54 Fader 2008)
•Although poor at containing more than the lightest leakage, washable pants are popular for discreetness.
•Although washable products generally do not perform as well as disposable products for containing even light leakage, they become increasingly cost effective with multiple uses over extended periods of time.
•No clear difference has been found between washable and disposable products for kindness to skin (54 Fader 2008)
•You may find that choosing a mixture of pads works best for you. For example, use the more expensive but more reliable (for leakage) small insert pads when going out and the cheaper sanitary towels when at home.
